This was written just after I'd had one of the best views of a wild golden eagle I've ever had. I was up on a hill above her as she flew by below me hunting, gliding along a valley, taking her sweet time in the warm sun. It was glorious ❤️ A midwinter poem, inspired by these little beauties in the garden ❤️ Have been loving seeing these little guys in the garden this winter ❤️ Pencil sketch digitally painted 🎨 Kintsugi means “golden joinery” and is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer mixed with gold, treating the breakage and repair as “part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise”. It’s a way I like to think about emotional scars, they never go away, but they can become our strengths, defining us in positive ways. Overcoming pain and mistakes can be part of what makes a person beautiful or remarkable. No one is perfect. We can only do our best and that is good enough. Aim to impress you.
