It’s that time of year again, time for me to make a Christmas card. Every year I like to make something special to send out to friends and family. Last year I painted fae creatures with waxwings and I really enjoyed it, so this year I decided to do something similar.
I’ve been painting wildlife art on and off for a number of years, but never been 100% satisfied with the outcomes, until I started adding some fantasy twists, so for this year’s card it seemed only natural to continue in that vein. Starting with an image of a robin I painted previously, I’m adding in some fae elements to spice things up a bit.
So far so good. Hopefully I’ll finish it and get some cards printed and posted soon! Are you making anyone anything for Christmas? Tell me about it in the comments below.
This is fantastic – you’ve put an unusual spin on a familiar subject. Loved the waxwings too – looking forward to seeing what else you come up with in this style 🙂
Thank you! I’m having a lot of fun with this style 😉
Beautiful, Janice. The fairies ride Robins here in Ireland.
Thank you! I had a feeling they might be the kind of bird a fairy would want to ride 😉
Oh that’s what they are indeed 🙂
